- Description
- The ubiquitous nature of the photographic image in the 21st century has seen an increased focus on studying the production of digital images in tertiary learning. This focus corresponds to the centrality of the image in the ocular centric digital world and the shift in learning to more social media style online education platforms. The paper seeks to provide research insights into the pedagogical possibilities and limitations of a photographic e-journal as a core pedagogical tool in a blended learning photomedia course. The paper draws on the preliminary findings of an ethics approved study titled Photographic Participatory Inquiry (PPI), researching the pedagogies of photography in the e-learning environment. It elaborates on the use of the e-journal blog and its arts-inquiry strategies to develop reflective dispositions able to embrace an interactive aesthetic and its affordances for social media focused students.
